Soil decline

What failing ground needs back.

Compacted, salt-affected, mineral-poor soils in the arid West do not recover on nitrogen alone. Utah Seabed documents a Lake Bonneville lacustrine bed — calcium, magnesium, sulfur, and traces — put to work as an amendment on living ground.

The problem

Soil decline is physical, chemical, and extractive.

Structure collapses

Arid-west soils run low in organic matter. Clay smears when wet and sets hard when dry. Roots hit a pan. Water sits on top or runs off. Tilth is the first thing to go.

Water and salts

Irrigation without drainage concentrates salts and carbonates. Sodium disperses clay. Calcium and gypsum in the receiving soil help flocculate it — if they are actually there.

Minerals leave with the crop

Each harvest exports calcium, magnesium, sulfur, and traces. Synthetic NPK does not put those back. The Sevier bed is a documented calcareous sandy/silty clay, not a complete fertilizer program.

The bed

Kohler (2023) and Beard sampled the Antelope placers with a soil auger — a few feet of Lake Bonneville sediment, not a hard-rock mine. Stukenholtz lab averages below. Results on working ground still depend on rate, receiving soil, and management.

We do not claim medical or neurological outcomes from those traces. This is a mineral amendment for soil, not a food or supplement claim.

On the ground

Product films and field clips.

GEOSerum and flakes are downstream product examples. The auger clips are the Sevier bed itself. None of these are a one-rate use recommendation.

GEOSerum

A one-minute product film for the GEOSerum foliar line, July 2023. A downstream product example — not a survey of the Sevier bed.

Soil-amendment flakes

Soil-auger sampling

Hand-auger sampling of the lacustrine bed, Millard County, August 2026. A surface deposit — not a hard-rock mine.

Auger hole in the bed

The open auger hole in the lacustrine surface, Millard County, August 2026. A few feet of sandy/silty clay — not a deep hard-rock mine.
